Sunday Snippet #34

Where she meets Stryker…

If you have not read the previous Sunday Snippets, I recommend doing so first. You can find them here.
Previously on Sunday Snippets: Graeme and Delaney arrive at the theatre and enter the private box. Much to her surprise, it is occupied by what appears to be several of her husband’s friends.

~oOo~

Delaney did not mistake his gesture as something other than what it was – claiming her as his. While part of her loathed the idea of being treated as someone’s property, another part of her thrilled at belonging. Not so much belonging to him as much as belonging with him.
There were looks of surprise from all but one of the party – the dark haired gentleman who had winked at her did not seem surprised by Graeme’s announcement at all.
“A pleasure to finally meet you, Your Grace,” he said as he directed her towards the front of the box. “I am Andrew Holden, though you may call me Stryker.”
She moved towards the vacant seat, but was stopped by Graeme’s hand on her upper arm.
“I’m sure you’ll be more comfortable without this,” he said as he reached for the closure at the top of her cloak and Delaney felt the blood drain from her face.

~oOo~

What has she got on under that cloak? The big reveal is coming next week – and in public, no less!
For those who found me last week, thank you! I was so excited about the California Dreamin’ Conference, I forgot to post my link to the WeWriWa blog.
Needless to say the conference was a blast! Definitely one of the best I’ve attended. There was so much to learn and so much to do. Workshops, meet and greets, volunteering… I could go on and on about it. In fact, I keep threatening to write a blog post on it, but I’m still living off the euphoria that is having an EDITOR WANTING ME TO SUBMIT MY FULL MANUSCRIPT! I did miss quite a few workshops due to the critique session and agent appointments, but considering the editor wants a full submission and each of the agents want a partial, I’ll consider it a fair trade. Thank goodness there were lots of people there with whom I can exchange notes.
That being said, I do have some work to do on my submission. As soon as I hit send on the critique pages, I already knew certain parts of it wouldn’t work. Those were the exact same places the editor brought to my attention. I need to rework those, make sure it’s consistent throughout, and then off it goes. Considering I have the Day Job five days a week, that really only gives me two days to dedicate to revisions. I am giving myself until May 31 to get it done. I refuse to be in the 80% who does not follow through with a submission!
So you may not see too much of me in the next two months. I’ll try to keep up on my posts, but my submission is my top priority right now.
Keep checking the Weekend Writing Warriors and Snippet Sunday for more great stories by great writers.
Happy Reading and I’ll hopefully see you next week. ;)
