Welcome to What Are You Reading? This month I am pleased to welcome Aletha Bakke.
Hi, Aletha, thanks for joining me. Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
Hello, I’m Aletha Bakke. I go by A. J. Bakke for my own books. I am a fairly
boring person. I mostly like to hang at home with my cats and watch stuff on Netflix, or play World of Warcraft or Guild Wars 2. My primary passion is riding horses. Writing books is a close second.
Okay, now on to the good stuff!
1) Tell us what you’re reading this week.
Into The Labyrinth, book 6 in the Death Gate Cycle by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman. It is epic fantasy.
2) Why did you choose this particular book?
I randomly bought the first one at a used book store a few months ago. So glad I did! When I was halfway through reading the first book, I had to find the rest in the series so I didn’t run out!
3) Tell us a little about it. Remember…NO spoilers!
The stories are epic fantasy with amazing and in depth characters. There is a lot of fascinating world building going on in those pages! And of course, dragons! Everyone loves dragons, right?
4) What are you enjoying about it so far?
I really like the humor that gets thrown in with otherwise dark drama and action. My favorite characters are Haplo and Alfred. They sure end up on some interesting journeys.
5) Is this an author you’ve read before?
I hadn’t read anything by them before I randomly picked up that first book. Now I wanna buy everything they ever wrote!
6) If yes, what makes you keep coming back for more?
The books have an amazingly engaging story line. I like how some of the characters change throughout the series. Very well written, nicely paced. There is just enough suspense to keep me going ‘ee! What’s gonna happen next?!’ The characters aren’t all the epitome of perfect. They make mistakes. They are faced with difficult tasks and decisions. And, I’m always a fan of some comedy in the mix.
7) What made you choose this author and book?
I like to collect a small variety of authors I haven’t read before when I go to a used book store. Now I choose their books because I’ve discovered how phenomenal they are!
8) What do you like about their work?
Engaging, believable characters. Silly fun humor. Suspenseful action.
9) Would you read them again?
Yep!
10) Would you recommend this book and author to others?
Absolutely! Any time someone asks for a recommendation, I bring up the Death Gate Cycle.
11) Where can we find out more about what you write?
I write fantastical stories with a lot of humor thrown in. My next book, 
Crashing the Game is coming out June 2016! It is 3rd in The Hidden Level Trifecta. It is YA and involves gaming mixed with magic for epic and hilarious results!
