Hello Spring '25

Well, a blog post a day kind of went off the rails for a little while there. A mixture of deadlines and school and Day Job stuff all rolled together became an instance of too much going on and not enough hours in the day.

But it’s officially a new season, and it was a gorgeous first day of spring. Here in SoCal, the sun was out, the clouds were not, and the temperature was a perfect 74ºF. Even though we are all battling some stomach bug at home, I did make sure to get outside and soak up some sunshine, and get some fresh air.

From today on, the days will get longer, the sunshine will get shinier, and it’ll be a rare day if we see any rain before December. I have plans for the “outside seasons” such as getting in more outdoor exercise, spending more time by the water (I’m looking at you Pacific Ocean)

I love fresh starts. They always energize me and remind me that there is always something to look forward to. As of now, I have a little over 2 months left in my school program, I’ll be starting a new shift at the Day Job, my anthology deadline is in 10 days, and I signed up for a local book signing in September.

I do have a favor to ask. I’m working on a survey for my Crime Analysis Program. It’s not crime related, but is book related. I’m collecting data on Does Reading Genre Fiction Influence Compassion? It’s completely anonymous. I’m not collecting names or emails, but it will greatly help me out. They survey will be open until 8am on Saturday morning.
