Where she comes in from the rain…
If you have not read the previous Sunday Snippets, I recommend doing so first. You can find them here.
Previously on Sunday Snippets: Graeme is preparing for dinner and an evening out with his wife, unbeknownst to her. In the next chamber, Delaney is just returning from a walk in the garden, where she had been caught in the rain.

Delaney hurried into the Duchess’s suite, startling Nancy, her lady’s maid, as the young woman walked out of the dressing chamber holding one of the new silk gowns.
A look of shock spread across Nancy’s face and she nearly dropped the gown as she got her first look at her mistress standing just inside the door, dripping on the plush carpet.
“Quick, come stand by the fire and warm up,” she instructed as she disappeared back into the dressing chamber and Delaney made her way to the raised grate, knelt down and added a scoop of coal to the glowing embers.
“Your Grace, you shouldn’t be dirtying yourself with that!”
Delaney winced as the maid admonished her, hurrying to the hearth and dropping the armful of flannels she had retrieved.
“There, it’s done,” Delaney said as she rose to her feet, wiping the coal dust from her hands. “There is no need to fuss over me,” she reminded Nancy as she felt a series of firm tugs at the back of her gown as the hooks were released. The tugs being a little more firm than absolutely necessary, Delaney got the distinct impression that she was being silently scolded.

While it seems like I did a little jumping around this week, this is a direct continuation from last week’s snippet, just from Delaney’s point of view. Remember, the last time we saw Delaney she was being carried off by Graeme after being attacked in an alley. Needless to say, some time has passed between that scene and this one.
Yesterday was the second Saturday of the month and that means it was the monthly meeting of OCCRWA. We had a guest speaker, Candace Havens, talk about going from rough draft to completed book in four weeks. Impossible, you say? Not with her program. In fact, it’s super easy. And while it may be time consuming, it was eye opening listening to her talk about how it can be done in so short a period of time. I was so inspired, that I got together with some of my writing friends in the group and we’ll be starting our team effort on it starting Monday.
20 pages a day for 14 days. That is 280 pages of a workable rough draft at the end of two weeks. It is one goal I can definitely cross off my list of New Year’s goals. Write more. I can’t wait to get started!
That being said, I will try to get my snippets out on Sunday, but if I don’t…you know why!
As always, comments and suggestions are welcome, and to check out some more great writing by great writers, check out the WeWriWa blog and the Snippet Sunday Facebook page (which I have recently joined!).
Happy reading and I’ll see you next week!
