Sunday Snippet #38

Where he is saved from doing violence…

If you have not read the previous Sunday Snippets, I recommend doing so first.  You can find them here.
Previously on Sunday Snippets: Graeme and Delaney shared a private moment in a not so private place.  And with witnesses, one of whom interrupted them before they could go too far.

What I would like is to go home to bed with my wife.
Graeme slowly turned to face whomever had spoken, and came back to his senses. Not only were he a Delaney not alone, they were, in fact, in plain view of not just his friends in the box, but a good portion of the theatre as well. He wasn’t sure which of those rapscallions he called friends had spoken, but he did not like the way they were ogling his wife. Taking a step forward, hands clenched into fists, he felt the urge to wipe the smug smile from any one of their faces.
Before he could do violence, a bundle of feminine energy gently shoved her way past them, settling into a deep curtsey before his wife.
“What a pleasure to meet you, Your Grace!” She held out her hands, directing Delaney towards the front of the box. “Pay no mind to these scoundrels,” she continued, narrowing her eyes at the men as they passed. “They are brutes and have no manners to speak of, for all that they’re called gentlemen.”

Oh, someone was thwarted in his amorous pursuits and he is not happy about it!  And just who is this mystery woman who absconded with our duchess, while serving the four men a set down they readily deserved? I guess you’ll just have to read on next week to find out.  :)

Well, it was a wonderful mini vacation – six days off from the day job. It was wonderful not having to wake up early and dress in work clothes. I did garden a bit today (fully clothed, thank you very much!), but I’m still hesitant to get excited about that.  Where there is dirt and plants, there are snails, and I don’t do snails <shudders>.

I did manage to get some writing in this week, though it wasn’t as much as I hoped for. Nor did I set up my new home office. A full day of no power in the house will throw anyone’s plans out of sync. Also, the surprise dental work didn’t help either. My face was so numb from the local anaesthetic, that my right eye couldn’t focus and my eyelids wouldn’t shut! Fun times. This was definitely one of those times I needed a vacation from my vacation!

And did you see the WeWriWa blog this week? The rules have changed: it is now right to ten sentences per submission.  I am so excited…longer snippets! That means I get to share more of my story with you. As always, comments are more than welcome. Make sure to visit the WeWriWa blog and Snippet Sunday Facebook page for more – longer! – snippets by some great writers.

Until next week, happy reading!
