Where he tries to see reason…
If you have not read the previous Sunday Snippets, I recommend doing so first. You can find them here.
Previously on Sunday Snippets: Stryker appreciates Delaney’s scandalously altered dress a little too much for Graeme’s liking.

“Christ, Stryker, he’s about to take your bloody head off,” Langston swore as he stepped forward, raising both hands between them.
Laughing, Stryker held his hands up in surrender and stepped back a pace.
“You know he’s just trying to get a rise out of you, Claremont.” Turning towards Graeme he reached into his coat, removed a silver flask and held it out. “Why you still fall for it after all these years is beyond me.”
Narrowing his eyes, Graeme snatched the flask from his friend, unscrewed the cap and took a sip, savouring the burn of the whiskey sliding down his throat. In his head he knew Stryker’s game for what it was – a game – but where his wife was concerned he couldn’t seem to see reason. He handed the flask back to its owner who took a sip of his own before passing it to Stryker.
“You have to admit, she doesn’t look like duchess material tonight. That gown…” he trailed off and let out a low whistle of admiration.

I don’t think these men are really thinking very much tonight. Langston gets between Graeme and Stryker before violence ensues, then makes the same mistake. Who do you think will go home with a black eye this night?
Summer is coming soon and that means the busy time of the year. My deadline is fast approaching and my manuscript is nowhere near being completed. I gave myself a May 31st deadline, but we’ll see how much is done by then.
For those in the Southern California area, my local RWA chapter is hosting a one day writing retreat August 1st. Laurie Schnebly-Campbell will be our guest for the day. Check my Facebook for details, or email me and I can send you more info.
As always, comments are more than welcome. Don’t forget to stop by the WeWriWa blog and Snippet Sunday Facebook page for more great snippets by great writers!
Happy reading and I’ll see you next week!
