Where he has much to learn…
If you have not read the previous Sunday Snippets, I recommend doing so first. You can find them here.
Previously on Sunday Snippets: With his wife in the company of the women, Graeme is having to put up with some good natured ribbing from his friends.
~oOo~
“I should have stayed home,” Graeme muttered, grabbing the half-raised flask from Stryker’s hand and taking a fortifying swallow.
“Must have been some row you had for her to pull that one over on you.”
Graeme didn’t answer, unwilling to air private matters with even his closest friends, choosing instead to hide behind a sip from the flask.
He looked over, watching as the other ladies fussed over his wife’s gown, chattering away like a bunch of magpies as they ushered her out of the box in a flutter silk and lace, giggling like girls fresh from the schoolroom. He moved to follow them, but Stryker stopped him with a hand on his arm.
“They need an escort,” he said matter of factly.
“Where they’re headed, no escort would be allowed past the door.”
“Retiring room,” Langston stage whispered at Geaeme’s puzzled look, reaching around and reclaiming ownership of his flask once again.
“All together like that?”
“You have much to learn of the fairer sex, my friend,” he said, taking a sip. “Much to learn.”

My, what a bloodthirsty lot you all are! I was laughing reading your comments last week. If they weren’t so used to my odd starts and laughing at what I read and write, my Day Job coworkers would have thought I had quite lost my mind.
It appears Graeme has come to his senses once again and realises a little good natured ribbing by his closest friends shouldn’t send him over the edge like that. Time was, he used to give as good as he received. But, as Langston says, he has much to learn, especially about his lady wife and himself.
I met with a writing partner this week. We writers are a solitary lot, but it helps at times to meet in person and discuss what we’re having trouble with. I’ve been having trouble with my opening scene’s PoV and setting. But just talking about it with someone else and hearing it aloud cleared it up. It helps that she gave me some great insight, as well. :)
Hopefully we’ll get together once a month at our new favorite hangout. A big shout-out to the Ink and Bean Coffee Saloon and Wordshop for letting us settle in for hours! If ever a space was created for writers, this is it. Delicious coffee and whimsical books flying overhead. I think this may be my new favourite writing space.
As always, we writers live for comments. Please leave some. ;). Don’t forget to visit the Snippet Sunday Facebook page and the Weekend Writing Warriors blog for more wonderful stories by wonderful writers. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m headed back to my editing cave.
Happy reading and I’ll see you next week.
