Where she is overwhelmed…
Previously on Sunday Snippets: Delaney is bustled out of the box and into a retiring room where Miss Prudence Hewlett takes charge.

“Do with me?” Delaney asked, eyes narrowing at the taller woman.
“Well, yes,” Miss Hewlett said, her face turning a bright shade of red as she waved her hand in front of her own chest. “You have to admit, they are rather on display, Your Grace.”
And what could she say to that?
Her impetuous attempt to thwart the Duke’s heavy handedness had backfired on her spectacularly, until she found herself in such a predicament. Surrounded by people whom she knew nothing about (though it was clear they knew plenty about her), in the middle of a busy theatre with her assets on display for all of London to see, and at daggers drawn with her husband – the one person she should be able to turn to for comfort and reassurance. Add to that, she was now sequestered in a retiring room with someone who took such pity on her as to whisk her away from the public eye.
Never had she been so surrounded by so many people and felt so completely alone.
And Delaney – who didn’t cry when her mother died, nor when her grandfather refused to acknowledge her, not even on the worst day of her life – took one look at the blushing young woman in front of her and burst into tears.

Oh, dear. Our poor Delaney is a bit out of her element, and it seems as if she has reached her breaking point. And for one as strong as she is, you know how revealing this is…and how humiliating. I’ve been in her shoes a time or two!
It’s been a little crazy the past couple of weeks. I’ve had to toss out about 2/3 of the original manuscript and start over. Luckily, after a plotting session with some writing partners, I seem to be back on track and better than before. Yay for writing partners and mentors!
Next week I’ll be joining my writing friends at the Los Angeles Film Festival where we will be seeing a debut screening of the documentary Love Between the Covers – a peek into the romance industry and the readers and authors that make it the #1 genre in books today. I’m so excited for this, I’m nearly giddy with anticipation. :)
As always, comments are more than welcome, and always appreciated. And for more wonderful snippets by wonderful writers make sure to stop by the WeWriWa blog & Snippet Sunday facebook page.
Happy reading and I’ll see you next week!
Bonus! For a trip down memory lane, and to see what got me started writing romance, see here.
