Where she makes an admission…
If you have not read the previous Sunday Snippets, I recommend doing so first. You can find them here.
Previously on Sunday Snippets: Delaney’s new friend and social rescuer attached a borrowed fichu to Delaney’s altered gown.

“I don’t know how I can thank you for this, Miss Hewlett,” Delaney said as the other woman snapped the thread.
“It was nothing,” she said, as she struck the needle back into the ribbon and tucked it back into her reticule.
Delaney turned and looked at herself in the nearby glass; the gauzy fichu did much to cover what her clumsy attempt at alterations had revealed.
“And please, call me Prudence. We’re a very informal lot around here.”
“And you must call me Delaney. I must say, I’m not used to being a duchess. People turn in my direction and say ‘Your Grace’ and I look behind me for some stodgy old dowager!”
“The dowager Duchess of Claremont is rather stodgy. I don’t envy you that introduction! Come,” Prudence said as she linked her arm through Delaney’s and made their way into the hallway. “Let us return before the men come looking for us.”

It looks as if all has turned out for the best. At least as far as Delaney’s gown is concerned. I wonder what her husband will think. She left suddenly, in the company of ladies she didn’t know, and will return with them as friends – and with her modesty preserved.
This has been a trying week. Practical jokes and summer vacation means the Day Job has been less tolerable than usual. It’s one of those places that does not allow for much creativity, so when things go like they did this past week, my writing stalls. But a long chat with a writing partner was able to set me back on track. And the holiday weekend is coming up, so that will allow for two and a half days of solid writing time. I am looking forward to a mini writing retreat at home!
As always, comments are more than welcome. I apologise if I didn’t reply to your comment, I will make sure to catch up and keep on top of things this week. For more wonderful snippets by wonderful writers, be sure to visit the WeWriWa blog and Snippet Sunday facebook page.
Happy reading and I’ll see you next week!
