Sunday Snippet #54

Where they head home…

If you have not read the previous Sunday Snippets, you can find them here.
Previously on Sunday Snippets: Delaney is discovered by her husband in the sheltered alcove of the theatre.

Graeme took her hand and placed it on his arm, guiding her through the theatre and out to the waiting carriage. He handed her up, and with no more than a brief word to the driver, climbed inside and settled in the seat across from her.
“There’s no need to apologise for tonight,” she said softly into the darkness, wondering why her bravery only seemed to appear when she couldn’t see his face.
“But there is, I behaved abominably tonight, and in public no less.”
She heard him rustling around and the carriage rocked as he moved to sit beside her.
He picked up her bare hand with his – he had removed his gloves in the dark – and kissed her palm.
“And would you have behaved so abominably had we been home alone? Would you have even spoken to me? Why did we attend the theatre, Your Grace? The real reason.”

Uh-oh! It looks like this conversation is going to happen sooner, rather than later. Poor Graeme doesn’t know what’s in store for him now!
Like I’ve said before, this is the “Readers Digest” version of the story. So much is missing here to meet the ten sentence limit, and this is such an important scene. It’s a bit painful to chop it up like this!
As always, comments are more than welcome. Don’t forget to stop by WeWriWa and Sunday Snippet for more great story bits by great writers.
Happy reading and I’ll see you next week!
