Sunday Snippet #57

Where she is seen in the hallway…

If you haven’t read the previous Sunday Snippets, I recommend doing so first. You can find them here.
Previously on Sunday Snippets: Graeme and Delaney have come to a mutually agreeable way to spend a rainy winter morning when there is a knock on the door.

~oOo~

Graeme groaned but otherwise ignored the knock, instead choosing to continue his fevered assault on Delaney’s lips and the sensitive skin of her throat.
The knock came again, louder this time.
“I beg your pardon, Your Grace,” Crandall said, his voice muffled by the heavy oak door, “but it is a matter of some urgency.”
Sighing, he pressed a kiss to her forehead and rose from the bed, snatching his banyan from the foot of the bed, and buttoning it closed as he stepped out into the corridor.
When he didn’t return after several minutes, Delaney slipped from the warm bed, donned her night rail and, shivering, grabbed a blanket draped over the nearby settee. Wrapping it about her shoulders like a cloak, she followed her husband into the corridor, where he and Crandall stood a few feet away, heads bent together in a whispered conversation.
Behind them, a woman approached, lit only by the dim light of the lamp in the butler’s hand. She was a small woman of middling years, dressed elegantly in black despite the early hour.
“I knew you lacked class, Claremont,” her voice rang out loud in the darkened hallway. “But even I would never have imagined you would disgrace this house by bringing your whores home with you.”

Oh. Oh, my. Who do we have here?
You knew they’re idle couldn’t last forever. What new way have I thought of to torture these two? A key player, no doubt. Just when you think things are going well…surprise!
Well, surprise for me, too. Just as I’m getting into the swing of edits, revisions, my critique group holding me accountable for my weekly dose of pages, WHAM!
My computer goes obsolete on me.
Oh, it still runs, but the system can’t upgrade anymore and my programs are out of date, my browser is so old I can’t access my cloud documents. Not having my documents readily available sure puts a halt to edits. :/ It has now become imperative that I get the new laptop. I have it all picked out. But the price tag for a new Mac laptop is intimidating. Hopefully soon, I’ll be able to post from the computer instead of a mobile phone.
Until then, for more great snippets by great writers, head on over to the WeWriWa blog and Snippet Sunday Facebook page.
Happy reading and I’ll see you next week!
