Where her husband breaks the news…
If you have not read the previous Sunday Snippets, I recommend doing so first. You can find them here.
Previously on Sunday Snippets: Graeme is roused away from his bed – and his wife – by the arrival of an unexpected visitor.
~oOo~
“Good morning, Your Grace,” Graeme greeted the older woman.
“There is nothing good about coming home to find the duke loitering in the hallway with ladies of loose morals.
Honestly, Crandall,” she said addressing the butler, though her narrowed eyes never left Delaney, “I thought you had better sense than to allow someone of her sort into my house.”
Delaney gasped at the insult and Graeme turned and the look of surprise on his face made her realise he hadn’t noticed she was standing outside his apartments.
His eyes hardened as he took in her appearance. She could only imagine what she looked like with her hair a touseled mess about her shoulders and a knit blanket clutched about her throat. No wonder this woman – whoever she was – thought Delaney the worst sort of character.
“Crandall,” he said turning back to the butler, “show my aunt to the family parlour.”
“I will not be shown about my own residence like some pauper begging an audience while the likes of her are in my home,” she barked.
Graeme turned sharply at her words. “You will cease speaking about my wife in such a tone, Your Grace. Make your way to the family parlour on your own if you wish, the duchess and I will be with you shortly.”

Well, that’s one way to announce your marriage to the family. Somehow o get the feeling it isn’t going to go so well…
Oh my, I’m in the middle of revisions for this story and it’s amazing how much the characters have changed since I started. They are nearly unrecognisable!
As always, comments and feedback see more than welcome. For more great stories by great writers, head on over thi the WeWriWa blog, and the Snippet Sunday Facebook group.
Happy reading and I’ll see you next week!
