Sunday Snippet #7

Where she is discovered…

If you have not read the previous Sunday Snippets, I recommend doing so first.  You can find them all here.
Previously on Sunday Snippets:
Delaney’s rescuer comes back to her side and, as he stands protectively over her, she makes a startling discovery as to his identity.

“Are you well enough to move?”
He crouched in front of her as Delaney lowered her face and gave a little nod, hoping her hair – freed of its pins during her struggle – would conceal her identity.  Reaching out with one hand, he gently brushed her hair back, his hand closing into a fist as he exposed the bruise on her cheek.
“Come,” he said as he gently drew her to her feet, “before anyone else happens along.”  She gasped as she rose, swaying on her feet as the pain in her ribs returned.
“Steady on,” he placed one hand solicitously at the small of her back and they made their way slowly down the alley.  When she would have crumpled to the ground, unable to go a step further, he swore under his breath, caught her in his arms and carried her to the carriage that had pulled up at the end of the alley.
“Where are you taking me?” she managed to get out, her throat scratchy and her voice barely above a whisper.
“To Claremont House, Miss Lockhart,” the Ice Duke informed her.  “You are coming home with me.”

I had to do some pretty creative editing this week and I still went over by a couple of sentences.  My apologies, but I just couldn’t leave you hanging there in the middle of the scene with no resolution.

As it is, this is the end of this particular scene and I couldn’t have planned it better myself.  Come October 1, I am abandoning the summer-brown of California for the colorful autumn leaves of New York.  Well, at least for a couple of weeks.  I will still be posting but have no idea as to which scene to post next.

So I am asking you, my fellow Weekend Writing Warriors, is there something you are particularly curious about between Delaney and her Duke?  If so, leave a note in the comments, or tag #Delaney on my Twitter no later than October 1.  That way I can get it to you by the weekend’s post.
