Where he goes for a walk…
Welcome to another edition of Sunday Snippets! Rest assured that Delaney is safely out of the alley and in the arms of the duke. But who is this mysterious Ice Duke?
The following selections, also from The Seduction of the Duke, (but a little later in the story), reveal a little bit more about who he is.

Graeme stalked through the gates of Parliament and shouldered his way past those MPs foolish enough to stop in his path. His town coach was waiting for him halfway down the block and he waved it on, nodding when Miller tapped his cap from his seat atop the box and maneuvered the carriage slowly through the crowded streets.
Pulling the brim of his own hat low over his brow, he shoved his hands into the pockets of his great coat, bowed his head against the ubiquitous drizzle that defined his London existence and walked along the busy streets. One aspect of town living he could never get used to was the fact that it’s narrow alleys and cobblestone streets did not provide enough space for him to think. At Oaklea Park he could work out any issues by taking a long walk through the countryside, but in the city, he was reduced to walking along the busy streets or through Hyde Park.
Yet Hyde Park held little appeal of late as it was often occupied by gossip mongers. It was bad enough his name was all over the scandal rags, but Graeme did not feel it necessary to add to their fodder. What kind of duke walked anywhere in London – much less London when it drizzled – when he had carriages and scores of servants at his beck and call?

This post is brought to you from the Empire State where I am working on my mobile device and not a computer – please forgive any formatting or typographical errors!
I decided to end the last selection of snippets where I did for two reasons. The first being that was the end of Delaney’s point of view and a natural stopping point. The second reason is that if I continued, it would give away too much of the story and I just couldn’t do that!
This selection of snippets is from a little later in the story. It isn’t as action packed as the last selection, but is just as important on a more personal level to the character and will have repercussions later in the story, as well.
As always, comments and critiques are welcome. And for more wonderful snippets by wonderful writers, visit the Weekly Writing Warriors!
Enjoy, and I’ll see you next week!
