Sunday Snippet #2

Where things get bad…

If you have not read last week’s installment, I suggest doing so first.

Where something unexpected happens…

Previously on Sunday Snippets:

While fleeing a nefarious character, Delaney attempts to hide in a crowd.  To her dismay, she is abducted by a large man and was dragged unwillingly down a deserted alley.

She landed a lucky kick, the heel of her short boot landing squarely on his shin.

“Little bitch!” he bit out, briefly loosening his hold.  Taking advantage of the momentary slack, Delaney pulled away, intent on escape.  Slipping on the wet cobblestones, she crashed into some nearby crates and fell to the ground.

“Kick me, will you?” he swore as he let loose with is foot, and pain shot through her ribs from his well-aimed kick.  Hauling her to her feet, he twisted her arm behind her back, shoving her against the wall.

Delaney hung there panting, toes barely touching the ground, face pressed against the cold brick and the ruffian’s hot breath on the back of her neck.  With one arm held uselessly behind her, she couldn’t even struggle to get away as the slightest movement sent pain shooting through her shoulder.

Welcome back to another edition of Sunday Snippets!  Hosted by the Weekend Writing Warriors, it is where participants post eight sentences of a current WIP or published novel.  Click here to read more excerpts from some great writers!
This is from my current WIP, The Seduction of the Duke, and is a direct continuation of last week’s snippet.  I recommend reading them in order to get the full impact of what is happening.
For those who left comments last week, a big heartfelt THANK YOU!  You made me feel comfortable in my first public posting and eager to post more.  You have given me an added incentive for me to finish this book so I can share it in completion.
