Writer Friends Challenge 8/24/26

There’s this fun game over on instagram called the Writer Friends Challenge.

Since it’s on Insta, it supposed to be photo based. But I’m a writer and as much as I like photography and making graphics WITHOUT AI, I just don’t have the time or mental energy to post like that every day. Heck, it’s hard enough for me to post once a week on Insta. lol

Obviously, I haven’t done anything with the August challenge, but I’m feeling productive today.

Today’s challenge is “Share a dialogue snippet that shows your MC’s personality.”

I’m still working and refining my current project, so no teaser yet, but here’s a little snippet from my short story, The Love Line”that came out in 2023 as part of the Austen Tea Party anthology. In this scene, Lucy-Anne Sharpe and Andrew Huntington snuck away to the riverbank to enjoy some time together. Lucy-Anne, thinking they are quite alone has removed her boots and stockings and has waded into the shallows.

“There’s something magical about water, don’t you think?”

“How so?” he’d asked in response, curious to see which way the turning of her mind went.

“Well, the most dreadful of days can be cured with water, either a good cry or a good cup of tea. Either way, we always feel better after.”
