Writing Goals

Evening, all. It’s October and that means it’s time for Blogtober. Thirty-one days of daily blog posts. 😱

Day 2: Writing Goals

What are my goals for the month? I don’t really plan out monthly goals. I’ve been following the HB90 system of goal setting and accomplishment for the last two years, and it’s focus is on quarterly goals.

Since I’m still working the Day Job 4-5 days a week, I find it easier to spread fewer bigger projects out over a three-month period, rather than have a lot of smaller goals for a month. Those bigger goals I tend to break up into smaller, more manageable pieces, but I don’t feel rushed to complete them in a short amount of time.

That being said, my Q4 goals are as follows:

  1. Set up my home office
  2. Complete draft 1 of my current story
  3. 1000 Instagram followers
  4. Start a newsletter
  5. Re-evaluate my time on social media
  6. Cultivate meaningful writing relationships

If you saw my Instagram from last week, you saw my 2021 Hobonichi Weeks Planner. While it’s too small to track everything, I did find a planner and layout that was perfect for my writing and business needs. It’s made it much easier to stay on track and check items off my list as I complete them.

I’ve already taken steps towards each of these, and it will be so satisfying to see it all completed by the end of the year.

Your Turn

Do you set short, medium, or long term goals? What is one thing you’d like to accomplish by the end of the year?
